We are a Catholic charismatic prayer community which started in 1991. We are a multi-cultural parish based prayer community who meet every Fridays at St. Peter's Church, Basement.

We start our meetings with the praying of the Rosary and Praise & Worship. We generally follow a schedule:
1st Friday - First Friday Mass at the Church; Altar Call (Healing) at
the basement.
2nd Friday - Teaching
3rd Friday - Serendipity Bible Study
4th Friday - Memorial Mass at the church; Praise Report at the basement

We also have a Youth Ministry for teenagers who receive a different teaching (age appropriate) from the adults during the 2nd Fridays of the month. The Youth ministry meets separately from the adults in an inner hall after the Praise & Worship.

After each activity, we have exhortations and love offerings. After the closing prayer a fellowship song is sung led by the Music Ministry. The members then gather to eat together in fellowship with the other members.

After mass on the first and last Fridays of the month, the Music Ministry who serves as choir during the Friday masses, invites the parishioners to join the prayer meetings.

We are also actively involved in the activities led and sponsored by Filipino Canadian Catholic Charismatic Communities (FCCCPC) and the Archdiocesan Filipino Catholic Mission (AFCM), and Catholic Charismatic Renewal Council (CCRC), and Catholic Charismatic Renewal Service of Ontario (CCRSO).

There is no cost involved in joining our prayer meetings. All love offerings are voluntarily given by the attendees to cover the monthly church donations, love offerings to invited guest speakers, administrative needs and other miscellaneous expenses of the group.

Everyone is free to join and is welcome to attend our prayer meetings to learn more about the Lord Jesus Christ with fellow believers and to learn more on how to live a Holy Spirit-led life, centered and focused on Christ!

Living for Christ Prayer Community - Focus on Prayer Groups

John 15: 5: I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. Introducing - the Living for Christ Prayer Community, the newest Catholic Charismatic prayer community in Toronto, Ontario, Canada under the umbrella of Filipino Canadian Catholic Charismatic Prayer Communities (FCCCPC).

Living for Christ was born on November 26, 2010 but the foundations for its existence began as early as 1991, when a group of families formed the Lord is my Shepherd - Toronto. The group met at St. Peter's Church in Toronto and a few years later, a chapter was formed at the Blessed John XXIII Catholic Church in Thorncliffe, Ontario.Living for Christ PC

In 1996, the Lord is my Shepherd - Toronto affiliated itself with a Filipino covenanted prayer community called The Lord's Flock.

John 15: 1- 2 1"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes] so that it will be even more fruitful.

The above Scripture paints Jesus as the main vine in the vineyard, we (the prayer communities) are the branches that grow from the vine. God the Father is the gardener. After 15 years as the Lord's Flock, the Lord has put in the hearts of the leaders verse 2 above that says: "He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful".

Although the leaders and the group agonized about their decision, after a lot of prayers, discernment and consultation with their spiritual director, leaders of the FCCCPC and the Archdiocese of Toronto, they understood that this was God's plan for them to be pruned from the covenanted community. God prunes even branches that does bear fruit so that it will bear more fruit. In order for the group to reach its full potential, God's pruning had to happen. On November 26, 2010, the group severed its ties to the Lord's Flock, and Living For Christ Prayer Community was born!

Ephesians 4:13 "And so we shall all come together to that oneness in our faith and in our knowledge of the Son of God; we shall become mature people, reaching to the very height of Christ's full stature."

Although membership is predominantly Filipino, Living for Christ continues to grow as a multicultural congregation with Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Nicaraguan, Trinidad and Jamaican members. With our diversity, we practice a common belief that a fundamental faith inspires both our relationship with God and the way we live with one another.

Just as Jesus reached out and brought healing and love, Living for Christ's vision is to reach out to those who do not know Jesus and who are hurting, and to share the Good News and testify about God's abundant love and grace. Living for Christ aims to seek God and pursue this vision wholeheartedly, living and giving as people living for Christ.

There are a variety of ministries at Living for Christ to encourage and develop growth, personally and as a community, to step out of one's comfort zone and engage in an adventure serving God.

The Intercessory Ministry meets once a week to present to the Lord personal prayer requests by our members, friends and relatives. A prayer chain operates when there are specific urgent prayer requests.

Living for Christ believes that "All scripture is given by the inspiration of God (2 Timothy 3:16 - 17) Our Teaching Ministry is committed to present teachings based on sound Bible principles and the teachings of the Catholic church. Living for Christ aims to provide teachings that stirs ones passion for Christ and equips to minister effectively in a rapidly changing world and to develop spiritual leaders.

To a world lost to sin, Living for Christ aims to make today's youth feel that their community is always there for them. It is about guiding, listening and helping them grow in their personal walks with God. It is about encouraging them in their desire to know God more and serve Him.

Being in the Music Ministry is more than just having a gift for music and playing instruments. It involves having a passionate desire to pursue God and lead others to worship God in Spirit and in Truth.

Living for Christ Prayer Community meets every Friday, from 6:30 pm to 9:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Church (lower level) located at 830 Bathurst Street, Toronto, Ontario. We have been blessed to have Rev. Fr. Mike McGourty as our Spiritual Director.
